Meet and Greet:
Hi, I am pharaoh Hatshepsut. I have been ruling my city from 1473 B.C.E. and I predict I will last until 1458 B.C.E. My ruling had many ups and downs, but I am proud of them. I was the first female pharaoh of Egypt. Art and architecture was very important under my ruling. I also encourage trading with other cities. I have strengthened this position of government and city. I filled the government with loyal advisors and I asked for the same respect as a male ruler would. I dress up in men's cloths some times to get the respect I want. I would have artist portray and draw me as a male because I am very determined for honor. For the city to believe I can rule, I even said my father was a god. Pharaohs can have white lies, too.
My Accomplishments:
During my ruling I had many great accomplishments, I was the first woman to ever rule in Egypt. Although I had to dress as a man and wear a fake beard worn by pharaohs, I still received the same respect like males. When I was pharaoh I encouraged trading with other countries. We made our biggest trades with the African kingdom of Punt. Five ships sailed to Punt giving gifts and trading goods. There is a temple being built for me at Dayr al-Bahri. It will be built into a cliff at the Nile River. The entrance will be between two tall obelisks and graced by 200 sphinx statues.
